About OZAFO
In 2008, a number of Zambians, at home and abroad, committed to the formation of Our Zambian Forum (OZAFO). OZAFO is a Zambian registered not-for-profit organization. Members include innovative and forward-looking Zambians who would love to see Zambia become a prosperous, proud and democratic nation in line with the vision of our fathers as captured in the Zambian National Anthem.
Non-partisanship
OZAFO is non-partisan, and draws its members from across the political, economic, academic, professional and social spectrum. Everyone who wants to see Zambia’s economic growth and democratic development is welcome.
Keen on Democracy and Economic Development
OZAFO seeks to inculcate democratic and economic development tendencies in the up and rising Zambians so that in tomorrow's Zambia, there will be more hope than hopelessness, more development and less disillusionment.
Leadership Development
OZAFO will groom a generation of Zambians who will be tomorrow’s leaders in the political, economic, professional, social and academic arenas. These will be leaders with twenty-first century models of economic development, social solidarity and poverty alleviation.
Operations
OZAFO is involved in four major operations through four committees:
Health and Development
The Health and Development Committee of OZAFO advises OZAFO on the state of health in Zambia and fosters a spirited fight against HIV/AIDS, STIs and deadly diseases such as malaria, cholera, tuberculosis, and so on.
Democracy and Good Governance
The Democracy and Good Governance Committee of OZAFO is responsible for projects intended to promote democracy and good governance in Zambia. The committee advises OZAFO on democracy and good governance matters, and is responsible for monitoring elections and conducting campaigns in voter mobilization, voter education, and so forth.
Leadership Development
The Leadership Development Committee of OZAFO is responsible for the programs intended to train and develop leaders at various levels. It engages minds from the grassroots and engages into unleashing the leadership potential in various groups of people in Zambia. The committee is responsible for conducting leadership training and seminars in Zambia.
The Office of the President of OZAFO provides training material and the direction of the training. At the end of training the Head Office of OZAFO issues certificates of completion to all those who successfully complete OZAFO’s leadership training.
The Leadership Development Committee ensures that the young minds of Zambia are aware of their constitutional and civic rights, and are able to participate fully in the running of Zambia. The Leadership Development Committee goes to some depth to lobby and advocate for a problem-solving, civic rights, and personal growth tailored curriculum in Zambian primary schools.
Grassroots Mobilization
The Grassroots Mobilization Committee engages in mobilizing the grassroots and inspiring them to participate in determining the direction of Zambia. It mobilizes youth groups, women, churches, education institutions, pressure groups, political parties and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in all the constituencies of Zambia.
The aim of the Grassroots Mobilization Committee is to create awareness and grassroots mobilization for a responsible Zambian citizenry able to fully participate in the governing of Zambia. The Grassroots Mobilization Committee designs programs in communities aimed at financially empowering the grassroots.
